Eric Myers

I am currently a Research Physicist in the Physics Department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. I work on the ATLAS experiment for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and on the D0 Experiment for the Tevatron II at Fermilab. Before joining the ATLAS and D0 efforts I taught physics full time in the U-M Physics department as a Visiting Assistant Professor. My background is actually in theoretical particle physics, with research interests in classical and quantum gravity.

Teaching

Some of the courses I have taught at Michigan:

Research

My research interests are in Gravitation and Quantum Field Theory, and the possibility of bringing the two together. I use a combination of analytic and computational methods (whatever works).

I've recently become interested in a problem in classical gravitation: the effects of General Relativity on navigation and communications satellites. Today's engineers actually have to take GR into account in designing such systems.

For 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 I am working in experimental particle physics, on both the D0 Experiment for the Tevatron II at Fermilab and the ATLAS experiment for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
